Creating perfect portraits for your wedding couples
Posted by jim on January 25, 2012The recent fad in the past 10 years has been wedding photojournalism. However, if your like most wedding photographers your couple wants portraits too. Portrait photography, at first thought, would seem easy. Yet, the results can be disappointing without the proper skills.
It takes more than just pointing the camera and taking the photo. You will need to direct your subjects into the proper positions for natural looking photos. When shooting large family portraits, try to create balance within the group. First, place the bride and groom directly in the middle. Then place the remaining people around them evenly.
Make sure their are no distracting objects in the background. One option is to shoot at a slight angle to hide any distractions. Or use a longer lens to blur out the background. Shooting inside a church is not an ideal situation. This is due to the un-natural lighting in most churches. Recommend, to the bride and groom, shooting family portraits outdoors instead.
